\"You are, therefore you pass\".<\/strong> Based on this line of poetry by the Polish Nobel Prize winner for literature Wislawa Szymborska, Maria Rosina Lamp deals with her own transience in the installation Quintessenz.<\/strong> Just as the five wax busts, which unmistakably bear the artist's features, gradually dissolve and melt away under the relentless burning of the heat lamps, so man must submit and surrender to the flow of transience.
The idea for the installation was born in 2007 for the thematic exhibition ZEITSPUREN of the art association DIE ROSENINSEL, where three sculptures were set up. On the occasion of the artist's 50th birthday, the installation was extended to five sculptures and shown at the end of 2007 in the solo exhibition QUINTESSENZ. For the exhibition faces<\/strong> the installation was set up again in 2021 at the Paulo de Brito Gallery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Venus of the Bags<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A plastic body print of the artist, in the posture of the Venus de Milo, stands in front of a mountain of plastic waste. The artist confronts us with our consumer behaviour. In Germany, an average of 47 kilos of packaging waste are thrown away per capita every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contents of the yellow bags can be used to create a personality profile of the consumers, because the waste reflects their preferences and lifestyles - so vegetarians or meat consumers are revealed just as much as pet owners or families with small children. Plastic waste becomes a mirror of human behaviour, socialisation and culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1.001 Tennisb\u00e4lle sind in einem Raum mit schwarz gestrichenen W\u00e4nden und schwarzem Teppich verteilt. Unter Schwarzlicht leuchten gebleichte Stoffe und auch gelbe Tennisb\u00e4lle. Viele unterschiedliche Spiegel, angelehnt an den W\u00e4nden, verdoppeln die Szenerie ins Unendliche. Die zweite gro\u00dfe Leidenschaft der K\u00fcnstlerin ist der Tennissport. Soviele B\u00e4lle hat die K\u00fcnstlerin in fast vierzig Jahren aktivem Turniersport verbraucht.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Installation wurde zur Ausstellung Lichtblick 2023 im Atelier von Paulo de Brito gezeigt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sound of Colours<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the themed exhibition of the art association DIE ROSENINSEL in 2018, Maria Rosina Lamp came up with something very special: Sound cushions in the four primary colours to awaken associations with colour and sound. If you put your ear to one of the cushions, you will hear special tones that the artist believes match the corresponding colour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chirping of a canary to the colour YELLOW

Garten Eden<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In der Kunst gibt es eine lange, k\u00fcnstlerische Tradition der Paradies-Darstellung. Sie reicht von Bildern des christlichen Garten Eden, \u00fcber das goldene Zeitalter, das griechische Arkadien bis zum Schlaraffenland. Alle liegen verloren in der Vergangenheit oder unerreichbar im Jenseits. Aus heutiger Sicht scheint die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Paradies naiv, denn die modernen Paradiese \u2013 vom Einkaufs- bis zum Urlaubs- und Steuerparadies \u2013 sind h\u00f6chst irdisch und k\u00e4uflich. Die Kunst hat die M\u00f6glichkeit sich mit diesem Zwiespalt auseinander zu setzen und die Sehnsucht nach einem Ort des Gl\u00fccks und der Harmonie auch im Anbetracht der derzeitigen politischen Situation erneut auszuleuchten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Diese Installation wurde 2015 anl\u00e4\u00dflich der Ausstellung des Kunstvereins Starnberg zum Thema Paradies in der Starnberger Schlossberghalle gezeigt. Das goldene Bett stand im Freien hinter der Halle, durch die Glasfront der B\u00fchne hatte man einen zentralen Blick darauf. In der Halle befanden sich neben dem Hinweisschild ein Podest mit Kopfh\u00f6rern. \u00dcber diese waren verschiedene Schnarchger\u00e4uschen von Menschen im Tiefschlaf zu h\u00f6ren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ausgehend von dieser Gedichtzeile der polnischen Literaturnobelpreistr\u00e4gerin Wislawa Szymborska, setzt sich Maria Rosina Lamp in der Installation Quintessenz mit ihrer eigenen Verg\u00e4nglichkeit auseinander.
